Hey kids!
So last night was super nice. We made a yummy dinner annnnd dessert, which I MUST share with you! It was a knock off of the Applebees Maple Butter Blondie! You know that ridiculous thing that comes in a sizzling a pool of maple-y, butter-y, vanilla-y goodness? Yes! That one! Well I found the recipe on Pinterest, of course. It was suuuper yummy. Yes over the top, yes semi crazy, but oh my goodness gracious, it was so deeelish! And it makes a ton! Enough for a dinner party or pot luck. We loved it, and so did my brothers! Here is the recipe:

The Cake:

4 egg whites
1 stick of butter (softened)
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup evaporated milk
8 0z. white chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

For Sauce:

1/2 cup butter (softened)
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup cream cheese (softened)
2 tbsp. maple syrup
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

8 scoops vanilla ice cream (Haagen Dazs)

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees, and grease a 9x13 pan.
2. In a large mixing bowl beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
3. Add butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract to the egg whites, beat till fluffy.
4. In seperate bowl, sift together dry ingredients, flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
5. Gradually add dry mixture to the batter, mix using a spatula until smooth.
6. Add milk, chocolate chips, and walnuts to the batter by folding.
7. Pour batter into a greased pan. Bake 40-45 mins, until top is golden brown.
8. Meanwhile, prepare sauce by beating together the cream cheese and butter till smooth.
9. Add the sugar, maple syrup, and salt. mix well. set aside.
10. Serve cake warm with warmed sauce, (microwave till pourable.) a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and a sprinking of walnuts. ( I use candied walnuts)

Store cake at room temp in sealed container/tight foil
Store sauce in fridge.

When serving next day, just plate up the cake and a scoop of the frosting..microwave for 50 secs, add ice cream, and nuts! :)
